The city of Rye and the Village of Mamaroneck held a joint meeting Friday, Sept. 25, to continue discussions on deer management in the two municipalities.
Both held a similar meeting earlier this year, and Friday’s hearing was a follow-up to go over “current and up-to-date issues and strategies,” as deer season approaches on Oct. 1.
Additionally, the two municipalities were calling on Westchester County to step up and assist with a deer management program that officials said the county was prepared to implement, particularly at the Marshlands Conservancy in Rye.
City of Rye Mayor Joe Sack and Village of Mamaroneck Mayor Norman Rosenblum recently sent a joint letter to Deputy County Executive Kevin Plunkett inquiring about the county’s plans in regards to this issue.
