NYS Police Reform & Reinvention Committee to Host Public Forum

The Village of Mamaroneck’s Ad Hoc Police Reform and Reinvention (PRRC) Advisory Committee will host a Public Forum on

Thursday, December 10th at 7:00pm
via ZOOM (see below for login information).

“The Village is reaching out to all residents and sections of Mamaroneck to have participation that reflects our diversity,” said Village of Mamaroneck Mayor Tom Murphy. “We encourage everyone to share their views and opinions.”

Earlier this year, Governor Andrew Cuomo signed Executive Order 203 to reinvent and modernize police strategies and programs – requiring every police department in New York State to develop a reform plan with community input. For every municipality’s police department, the plan:

  • Must address policies, procedures, practices, and deployment.
  • Must certify that they have engaged stakeholders in a public and open process on policing strategies and tools.
  • Must be presented to the public for comment.
  • Must have a legislative body certify the plan.

The PRRC’s Public Forum on Thursday, December 10th will be the second and final Public Forum following one that took place on Tuesday, December 1st. Individuals wishing to participate in the Public Forum are encouraged to prepare their statements beforehand and will be asked to limit their statements to 3 minutes. In addition to these two Public Forums, an online (and print-version) Survey (in both ENGLISH and SPANISH) is being developed that will provide individuals another way to share their opinions and experiences. The link to the Survey will be posted under the “Village News” section on the Village’s homepage in the coming week.

Information gathered from the Public Forums and Survey, when complete, will be developed by the PRRC into a collaborative police reform and reinvention plan as a way to improve the services, processes, and reputation of the Village of Mamaroneck’s Police Department (VMPD). The plan, which will be certified by the Village of Mamaroneck Board of Trustees, will be submitted to New York State on March 31, 2021.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Community Media Day 2020

It’s that time of year again!

Community Media Day is a national event to celebrate media awareness every October 20th. Every year we have encouraged our community to come and see first hand all of the incredible things we offer but with the Coronavirus Pandemic still posing a threat, we are unable to open our doors to the public yet.

This year we are highlighting all of the things that we have already accomplished, especially during these troubling times, where communication is key. Remember, none of this would be possible without the generous contributions of our donors and of course the Larchmont and Mamaroneck communities. We hope that 2021 will bring great changes and new opportunities!

LMC Media – Temp Policy Changes Due to COVID-19

In light of the current COVID-19/Coronavirus situation, we at LMC Media are taking as many precautions as possible to keep our staff, volunteers, producers, and general members safe.

In doing so, LMC has immediately implemented the following changes until further notice:

  • LMC has placed a temporary hold on all equipment loans/rentals as of 3/10/2020.  All producers with loans or rentals will be notified that their reservations have been canceled for the immediate future.
  • Studio bookings for at least the next week have been postponed or canceled until otherwise noted.
  • All birthday parties and/or group visits have been canceled until further notice.
  • All field shoots will be placed on hold until further notice. This DOES NOT include municipal and school board meetings which will continue to be recorded unless canceled by the district or municipality.

LMC kindly asks that all appointments and/or requests are made via email with one of our staff members. Requests can be directed to the appropriate staff as listed HERE.

In an abundance of caution for the health and well being of our staff, volunteers, and producers, LMC offices will be closed for an undetermined amount of time; however staff will still be available by email and checking messages during LMC’s normal hours of operation. LMC will be updating this post if there are any changes to the above policy or any other closures in the coming weeks.

Management and the LMC Board of Directors will keep a close eye on any developments and make any necessary changes to these temporary policies as necessary to protect the health and well being of staff, volunteers, and producers.  We thank you in advance for your understanding.
