LMC Media Wins National Award

LMC Media’s Dena Schumacher and journalist Lou Young just won a national Hometown Media Award for their story about the Larchmont Mamaroneck Hunger Task Force. In the “Community Impact” category, which awards programs that generate community involvement, “Food Pantry – Food Distribution” took the top prize among access professionals announced June 30th at the annual Conference of the Alliance for Community Media.

Dena Schumacher is Assistant Director of LMC Media, and Lou Young is a retired broadcast journalist who volunteered to report on the Food Pantry’s weekend distribution at Mamaroneck’s Columbus Park. According to Malcolm Frouman, President of the Larchmont Mamaroneck Hunger Task Force, the story generated tens of thousands of dollars in donations and sparked volunteerism. Congratulations to Dena, Lou, LMC Media, and the Hunger Task Force!
